Last sermon of Muhammad saw
The prophet's tent was pitched at Nimrah to the east of Arafat soon after midday , riding his she camel Qaswa, He went to the center of the valley.He then delivered his address;every sentence of which was repeated by Rabis bin umayyah bin Khalid in a powerful voice .After prayers and thanks to Allah, he said:
"O people! Listen to my speech, because I don't think that after this year I shall ever meet you in this place ."
"O people! Your blood, your wealth and your honour are so regardful into one another as you regard (respect) this day, this holy city and this holy month.people! shortly you have to be present before Allah and then he will question you regarding your deeds . Beware,don't go astray after I am no more,that you start chopping necks of one another."
"He who is entrusted with property belonging to another should deliver his trust to whom it belongs."
"And all that is left on usury is cancelled but your capitals are yours.Do not do injustice to others nor let injustice be done to you."
"Allah had decided that there is no usury therefore all interest due to Abbas bin abd Al muttalib is cancelled."
"O people! Today I crush every deed of ignorance under my feet."
"And all compensation of bloodshed in the time of ingnorance is abolished."
"O people! Satan has given up every hope of ever being worshipped in this land of yours.but he will be obeyed in other lands. Therefore be careful of your faith,lest these other people diminish your good deeds."
"O people! The postponement of sacred month is an addition of the days of disbelief.And those who choose disbelief are misguided.They declare it sacred one year and one non sacred another year.
And time revolves,as it has been shaped since the day the heavens and earth were created by Allah.
"And the number of months with Allah is twelve.four months are sacred three consecutive months and Rajan by itself between jamadi and Shaban."
"And after that,O men! You have your right against your wives and they have their against you.it is their duty to observe Chasity and avoid immodesty.And, if they are guilty, you are allowed to avoid intimacy with them and to beat them without causing injury.But if they repent, you must feed and clothe them with fairness. And instruct each other to do good to your women folk for they are under your custody and have no control over anything by themselves.And you have taken them as Allah's trust and they have been made lawful to you by the word of Allah.'
"Therefore,O people! Understand well my sayings for I have onveyed my message.And I have left with you that which if you take hold of,. Your affairs shall not go wrong.That is the Book of Allah and the sayings of Muhammad,His prophet."
"My people,listen to my words and think deeply about them.know that every Muslim is the brother of every other muslim, and that all the Muslims are brothers of one another.No property of a man is lawful for his brother unless it has been given to him freely.So do not injustice to yourself."
"O Allah! Have I conveyed my message?."
"Yes,O prophet of Allah." Cried the audience with one voice.
"You have conveyed to us the commands of Allah ."
The prophet Muhammad saw then raised his eyes to heaven."O Allah,You yourself be our witness this day."
And when the prophet Muhammad saw had finished his address he got down from his she camel. He performed the zuhar and asar prayers together.At this,Allah revealed to him the following verse,:
This day have I perfected for you your religion.And completed my blessings upon you, And have accepted for you Al_ISLAM as religion.
(Al Qur'an,5:3)
The prophet Muhammad saw immediately recited this verse to all present there.
After completing all the ceremonies of the pilgrimage and establishing a new order in Makkah and settling the affairs of the Muslim, the prophet Muhammad saw returned to Medina.
